I made this quilt for my friend Roberta who now lives in Germany. She is the self-styled "Queen of the Scrap Basket", making beautiful scrap quilts that are often auctioned for charity. When she moved to Germany from Denmark, I decided to make her a moving in present. Roberta loves batiks and so it was easy to decide what to make her - a scrappy batik basket quilt! My friend Sarah joined in and made 4 basket blocks too. Roberta stayed with me for a few days in the summer of 2003 and thats when I gave her her quilt - here she is in my back garden. |
